Questions

Common questions

How often does it fire?
Not often. 28 times since Aug 1998, about 9.1 per decade. Some years have a few signals and many have none at all.
Is a signal a recommendation to buy?
No. It describes market conditions. Some investors use it as a cue to revisit a planned contribution or a staged entry, others do nothing. It is not advice and does not consider your circumstances.
Which markets are covered?
The S&P 500 index. Most people hold it through funds like VOO, SPY or IVV. Coverage of the Nasdaq-100 is planned.
How was the history produced?
Readings not published on the day are a back-tested reconstruction. The methodology explains how, and the historical data page lists every signal.
